Child Protection Policy

1. Introduction

Mufasha Uganda is committed to promoting the rights, safety, and well-being of all children.
Our work places us in direct contact with children and families, and we are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment free from abuse,
exploitation, or harm.

2. Policy Objectives

            • To safeguard children from all forms of abuse.
            • To provide clear guidance to staff, volunteers, and partners on child protection standards and practices.
            • To promote best practices in child welfare and uphold the rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Ugandan Children’s Act.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, board members, and any
individuals or entities representing or associated with Mufasha Uganda.

4. Definitions

            • Child: Any person under the age of 18.
            • Abuse: Physical, emotional, sexual, or neglectful actions or in-actions that cause harm to a child.

5. Code of Conduct

            •  Always treat children with respect and dignity.
            • Never engage in any form of sexual activity with a child.
            • Avoid being alone with a child in a secluded area.
            • Report any suspicion or disclosure of abuse immediately.

6. Recruitment & Screening

Mufasha Uganda shall implement rigorous recruitment procedures including:

            • Background checks
            • Reference checks
            • Signed agreement to the Child Protection Policy

7. Reporting Mechanism

All suspicions or reports of abuse should be:

            • Reported to the designated Child Protection Focal Person.
            • Investigated promptly, ensuring the safety and confidentiality of the child.

8. Training & Awareness

Regular training sessions will be held for all staff and volunteers on:

            • Child protection awareness
            • Recognizing signs of abuse
            • Reporting procedures

9. Review & Monitoring

This policy shall be reviewed every two years or sooner if required by law or
organizational change.
