I’ve been chasing an intermittent overheating problem on my old Grand Cherokee for months replaced the thermostat, flushed the coolant, even changed the water pump, but the temp gauge still crept up whenever I hit stop-and-go traffic on the Corniche. Last week I finally found a shop that actually diagnosed it properly: the radiator fan motor was failing intermittently, spinning slow sometimes and not at all other times. They did a full radiator fan replacement by skilled technicians and now the AC blows ice cold even when idling for twenty minutes. What a relief. If your car runs cool on the highway but heats up in traffic, don’t ignore the fan. Wish I’d checked that first instead of throwing money at everything else.
